During the holidays it can be difficult for the gluten intolerant and milk sensitive individuals wanting to taste what they know to be delicious, but needing to refrain. Our family has learned that there are many options out there. Sure, one can purchase packaged items, that have few items with a price tag that goes beyond ones budget. But with a little time, using ingredients that one can tolerate, even those with allergies can also enjoy the sweet side of the holidays at an affordable price.
Over the next few days I will be sharing some recipes that are free of both gluten and milk, utilizing alternate sources one can easily find in their local grocery store. Those that think eating gluten and milk free is always too expensive to share with the complete family, will find that the cost does not always interfere with the ability to afford the making of these items.
You might just find, that when displaying these amazing treats in front of others, those who have shun the idea of eating foods without gluten and/or milk, will be tempted to finally try something that is a delight to their taste buds.
An idea to keep in mind when participating in candy/cookie exchanges, company parties, family gatherings and neighborhood events, would be to have everyone include the name of the item with a list of ingredients. This would allow all those who deal with allergies to be aware of what items they can enjoy.
Hope you enjoy the upcoming blog post recipes to be enjoyed as desserts or home made gift giving.
Enjoy, knowing that one can still enjoy some sweet treats as they continue to eat healthy (just be careful to not over indulge on these delicious delights 🙂 )
